VB Just Wore the Best Not-So-Basic Basics
Last season, during the September round of the London Fashion Week shows, Victoria Beckham decided to bring her 10-year-old eponymous brand back to UK soil and switch from her usual New York–based runway presentation. Team Who What Wear (not quite believing our luck) thought this would be a one-off thing for the anniversary. However, it turns out that the allure of her home country's capital is too strong to ignore, and today, the designer showed yet another season in our fair city.
What also happened last September is that Victoria Beckham's chosen runway bow outfit set the agenda for many of our own outfits to come over the next six months. At the time, she sparked a trend for camel blazers. Fast-forward to today and we're still wearing them on repeat (something that we hadn't actually done pre-VB catwalk). So what did she wear today, and what hit the runway?
Victoria's A/W 19 show will cement what you're going to wear to work next season: natty heritage checked blazers, sharp-as-ever tailored trousers and snug knits layered over exaggerated-collar shirts that were made for a modern working girl's dream job. It was full of neutral tones yet punctuated with unexpected splashes of red. There were also flattering silky dresses draped around the body in chain and knot prints.
Victoria herself is often the bell-weather of what will translate into our wardrobes ahead of what actually becomes available a few months down the line, and for today's catwalk bow, she chose to wear a shrunken brown jumper with a giant knot intarsia motif layered over a white pointed-collar shirt and black wide-leg trousers (an easy everyday look if ever saw one). Keep scrolling to see Victoria's outfit and discover some of our favourite looks from the show.
Up next, Victoria Beckham shows how you can still wear a dress even when it's freezing outside.
